John is an Associate and runs the Litigation Department in the Firm. He regularly appears at Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland and also various Tribunals including the Housing Tribunal in Glasgow.
He is one of only two civil Solicitor Advocate in South Lanarkshire and as such is also entitled to appear in the Court of Session in Edinburgh. He was advocate for 18 years with a tremendous about of court experience, before changing to a solicitor in 2010. He undertakes most types of litigation but particularly family law and debt recovery. In the Housing Tribunal he regularly appears for landlords in landlord/tenant disputes.
Beyond that he has a particular interest in Guardianships not only for the elderly but also young adults unable to manage their affairs upon turning 16. John has over 30 years of experience in Court work and is a well-known face throughout the West of Scotland in all the Sheriff Courts.
Married to Tanya they have two children and have lived in Hamilton for nearly 20 years. He is a keen sportsman and in recent years has been selected by British Triathlon to compete for Great Britain in his age group at the World and European Championships. You will often find him on a Saturday morning tearing round Strathclyde Park at the local park run.
