6th April 2017 - Pauline Milligan appointed as Director
Well merited, and long overdue, we were delighted to appoint Pauline Milligan as a Director of the firm with effect from 6 April 2017. Since joining the firm in 2007, Pauline has proved herself to be an exceptionally capable Private Client solicitor, and has strengthened the firm’s long-established reputation as one of the leading practitioners in that field in the Lanarkshire area. Through SOPS (Solicitors for Older People, Scotland) network, of which the firm is a member, Pauline has repeatedly been invited to present seminars to groups and organisations about retirement and succession planning, guardianships and Powers of Attorney, and related subjects. Her appointment as Director was originally planned for 2012, but due to unexpected changes in the partnership at that time, arising from David Darroch’s early retirement through serious ill-health and the departure of another partner to Aberdeen, the priority was to stabilise, incorporate and restructure the practice, before resuming on succession planning. Pauline is the first of a new generation of partner/Directors who may be expected to continue the practice to and beyond its centenary in 2033.
Estate & Letting Agency
From the 1970’s until 2016, as members of a succession of solicitors’ estate agency organisations, including GSPC from 1994, we offered estate agency and letting services, based in our Strathaven office from 1997. Like all estate agents during the property recession after 2008, it suffered and never fully recovered, whereas the commercial and private client areas of our practice flourished. In 2016, we decided to restructure and concentrate on our core business, and transferred our estate agency operations to Residence Estate Agents. Following a refit, they now share our Strathaven office, where we continue to provide solicitor services as normal.
