Charities & Local Associations
John Jackson & Dick has a long tradition of supporting charities, and associations and good causes in the local community. We are pleased to be associated as sponsors or supporters of
Bothwell Scarecrow Festival - a fun festival for all the family which proved hugely popular when launched in 2011, and has become bigger and better every year. There will be many events from 10-14 September - classic cars, history, culture, comedy, childrens' programme - but watch for many imaginative and funny scarecrows appearing during the couple of weeks before that.
Drumclog Horse Trials - We have supported this popular annual eventing for several years. This year's event is on the earlier date of Saturday 9th August 2014.
Bothwell Castle Golf Club - Charity Pro-Am. This event, always on the final day of The Open Championship, has generated huge sums for charities over its 30 years. The John Jackson & Dick team, with professional Paul O'Hara, acquitted itself creditably at the 2014 event, had a most enjoyable day, and assisted contributions to this year's charities.
Uddingston Cricket Club - We have been associated with, supporting and sponsoring Uddingston CC and its associated Hockey and Rugby Clubs for almost four decades. The Cricket Club has long competed at the top levels of cricket in Scotland, has won the Scottish Cup three times since 2003, and won the West Premier League Championship in 2013. The Club has been providing sports, recreation and social facilities for the community for well over a century, and is fortunate to have some of the best facilities in Scotland for cricket. John Jackson & Dick is now working with the UC&SC towards the construction in 2015 of a floodlit artificial hockey pitch and improved rugby pitches to provide residents, particularly children, of Lanarkshire with excellent facilities and coaching.
Rotary Club of Hamilton - Successive generations of partners of John Jackson & Dick have been involved with Rotary International for many decades, and participate in and support the organisation's activities in the local community and to raise funds for many good causes in the UK and internationally.
Will Aid - We have been supporting this national annual fundraising event every November for many years.
St Andrew's Hospice Make a Will Fortnight 2014 - We were please to support this initiative by excellent local charity and contributed a substantial sum.
